KWPA has the responsibility of survey and the execution of huge projects of dam construction,construction of water supply and irrigation networks,power sub-stations,power transmission and distribution lines and the exploitation of available installations.

On the 9th of May of 1960,in accordance with the bill passed in the parliament of that time,KWPA was established and officially assumed the responsibility of carrying out the developmental plans of Khuzestan.
